I'd like to try to tell when live audio input is a "song" -- for example Happy Birthday -- as opposed to speech or random noise. Can anyone suggest any further reading on strategies for doing this. Thanks.
Lots of research has been done on this problem. If you want some reading material, try doing a Google scholar search on the terms "speech music discrimination". (or "speech singing discrimination" if that's closer to your aim.)
