Processing code has hard-coded dependencies to Processing. Use Firmata pure java implementation ( https://github.com/4ntoine/Firmata ) or ready free application - ArduinoCommander  https://market.android.com/details?id=name.antonsmirnov.android.arduinocommander

The Processing IDE has a (not-so-obvious) button in the upper right corner called "Standard". Press that and select "Android" in the dropdown menu. Doing this will enable the Android-mode in Processing and most of your code should be directly transferrable (anything that doesn't rely on special graphics libraries)

Connecting to an ArduinoBT is as simple as using one of the available libraries. I'd suggest trying Arduinos BTserial lib.

Hey Scott!! Thanks for those very interesting pages!

I was able to fight my way through them and finally sent and received bytes with the ARduino using a JY-MCU bluetooth module.

I did find one error in the SendReceiveBytes class:

private class SendReceiveBytes implements Runnable {

This caused a name conflict with a processing.test package so I had to change the 
name to SendReceiveBytes1 which then worked fine.

Could you tell me where the UUID string comes from? Is that universal for everyone?

Also, would you be able to exchange directly with me on my Android project? I'm really
at a loss as to how to deal with all the complexity of Android.

I have a fully operational Linux Python Pyside (QT) application that I must make run on
my Android Nexus 4 (android 4.2.2) and this is quite a challenge!
