When a team is in control (when one of its players controls the ball) it will calculate the best position (from those shown) for a team member to support the controlling player, it then identifies the best player to move to that spot.

This is definitely bottom of the junior league stuff. It is called Simple because the rules are simplified and the AI is basic even though the sketch code is ~2600 lines (thats the sketch not the library code). I developed this sketch in Eclipse and ported it to Processing so it can be included more for fun than as an example.

Yes this will be released as a library and Simple Soccer will be included as an example.

To encourage people to try the library and to get the best out of it I am creating an on-line library and programnmers guides. As I create these guides and the example programs minor bugs and omissions become apparent and I am fixing them as I go along.

When the guides are ready I will release the library. To get a flavour of what to expect you might be interested in looking at the many guides created so far. They can all be seen from here. Any comments are appreciated.

Since there is no universal agreement on what 'intelligence' is, then what chance does 'artificial intelligence' have?

Perhaps the best a programmer can hope to achieve are algorithms that emulate human behaviour ?

Well maybe an AI can answer what intelligence is... :P
