Anyone?

There are several links to "IP Camera" libraries, as the Capture class won't work, but unfortunately, all of the links I've run across are so outdated the site is down.  Anyone found a working IP Camera capture library?

I encountered the same problems as you trying to figure out how to acquire the stream of a dlink dcs-910 wired camera... outdated and poorly documented code. So I decided to hack a library together myself. It is called IPCapture and you can find it here:

By now it has been tested on linux with my dlink dcs-910 and with a few public axis IP cameras. I don't know how efficient it is because unfortunately my internet connection is damn slow and acts as a bottleneck. It supports basic HTTP authentication and multiple camera acquisition.

I'd be happy if you could try it and give me some feedback in order to improve it and solve the IP camera acquisition problem once for all!

Grrreat ! Your library works perfectly with my setup.
It's the first time I manage to get a stream from another software than Firefox or VLC.
I'm sooooo happy :)

For your information, I'm using Processing 1.5.1 (I haven't tested with v2).
The IP Camera is an AXIS M1011W, connected to a WL-520GU Asus wifi router with DD-WRT installed.
There's an ad-hoc local network between the Asus and my computer (a recent MacBook Pro).
I'm connected thanks to the integrated Airport system.

I get a pretty correct stream quality with very little latency for a resolution of 640x480 pixels and a 25fps framerate.
I put these settings in the cgi script that can be added to the stream url.
In my case the address becomes :
http://192.168.3.1:9000/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=20&fps=25

That's reallly a cool think that your library works with processing and provides multiple camera acquisition support because now it should be easy to do some tele-stereoscopy with a second camera and some 3D displaying technology.

I've fixed the library to work with java 1.6 and processing 2.0, you can download the new version (0.2.1) from here:

a great - Library. I appreciate that it just does it's job without needless complication. Thanks for making this. The following might be useful to someone out there:

* for a Foscam i8918w:

cam = new IPCapture(this, "http://192.168.1.247/video.cgi", "username", "password");

* copy the current frame from the camera object into a PImage:

myFrame = cam;

in terms of efficiency: good frame rates over (a pretty quiet) 802.11b wireless network.
