thanks man! That's exactly what i had, but now i know i'm doing it right.  I really appreciate all the help, now i can stop reading (for the time being) and get back to creating (^_^)

just wanted to say thank you for that little snippet. i was trying to solve this problem using the a method that did not involve the "right" vector in combination with the "up" vector so at some weird angles, things were getting smooshed, but now everything looks perfect! cheers!
