this is related to the idea of the user (me) drawing a curve to supply the values to some function, say the hue of a gradation
The problem is given an x value I need to get the y value of the curve
I searched the forums and found

unfortunately in the old closed forum
The idea in that is to find a bunch of points along the curve and then 'search' that list to find the one that has the closest x and then read the y value
I can make the assumption, restriction, that as P the parameter of the curve increases, x increases
there is a link to a subdivision sort solution on the old post but the link is broken

I think what I would do is make an array like (10000,2)
Step through P normalizine to the 1000, fidning points on the curve
The x would go in (p,0) and the y in (p,1)
then given an x, 'search' this array for the closest x (p,0)
and 'read' the y (p,1)
I could normalize the x to fit the P range so the first guess of P would be the normalized x

what I could use help on:
algorithm for sub division search of the array, i.e. test, find side, take mid point etc.

This has probably been asked before but I can’t find it and maybe someone has worked this recently

What I would like is a curve interface element that a user could manipulate while the sketch is running to set a range of value

This would be very much like the Timeline tool and library but the output values would not be tied to time, it would be accessed with a parameter of length of x percentage, i.e. .5 in would return the height of the spline at 50% along the length of the x axis, and it could be changed while the sketch was running

Probably there would be on OK or update button to go with the curve

Additional it should appear in a separate window from the draw window and allow multiple curves for different

This would be similar to the Graph feature in Pro-E

A simple example, The sketch draws a color gradient from top of window to bottom

The hue value could be set with the curve tool

I know this is not simple and I am not (currently) asking for help making it, just wanted to see if someone has done this and made it available

From the processing window, I select file -> sketchbook

And I get a list of my sketches, this list is too long to fit on my screen and it won’t scroll down so I cannot see sketches all my sketches

Any ideas?

I have a newbie question

Goal, I have a control window in controlP5
I would like to make a color picker in this window that works in HSB not RGB

I will make 3 filled areas, Hue, Saturation and Brightness, the S and B would update to the current Hue and S or B respectively. These would be drawn with lines that vary in color along x

Question 1:
Problem, I have tried to set the color mode in the control window to HSB but I am doing it wrong or something, I probably don't know how to do it for the 'extra' window

Question 2: If I can't set the color mode in the control window, I could create the colors in HSB and convert to RGB to draw the lines. I have found in this forum the best way to do that is to use the java class color.
How do I add this library to my sketch?
