Hey All,

I have some code that I've not touched in a while that I'm trying to go back to.

I'm suddenly getting this error that I've never seen before:

The type processing.core.PGraphics3D cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class file

Since I've run the code last I had to restore my HDD and upgrade from osx Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.

I'm not have the problem with other code.

I'm running Processing 2.0b6, Jave SE 7 and OSX 10.8.2

Anyone have any advice for me?

Does anyone have a code snippet that takes a polygon and a given radius and returns either a polygon with rounder vertices, or a set of vectors that will result in one?

Voronoi Bookshelf Generator

As part of an experiment in generative design I've written an on-line and downloadable application that allows people to generate their own Voronoi bookshelf. They can specify all the dimensions and the material, and the code generates a series of downloadable files that can go right to a laser cutter or CNC router.

The whole project was written in Processing and makes use of Toxiclibs, controlP5, and ProScene.

I've gotten allot of help on this forum while working on the project and I'm very grateful for all your help.

I'd love to hear what you think of the project.

So I've got an applet that I've been working on for some time now (may of you have helped me so far). And now that it's almost done I'm finding that each browser has different set of problems.
I'm hoping some of you might have encountered some of the problems and can perhaps sugest some fixes

If anyone has any clues how to get rid of any of these problems I'd be grateful, it would be awesome if there was one browser where everything worked.

The big lesson I've learned here is not to use appets for interactive 3D webapps, and move towards processing.js, webGL and three.js.

Saving a PDF to web-server: how can I covert a PGraphics object into a byte[]

Hi!

I'm woking off the code found here ( http://wiki.processing.org/w/Saving_files_to_a_web-server) to write some PDFs to web-server and running into some trouble.

I'm created my PDFs off screen using createGraphics() to create a PGraphics object.

Based on the code snippet from the link above:

I need to pass this function a byte[] not a PGraphics object.

I can't seem to figure out how to covert the PGraphics to a byte[]

Any thoughts?

Toxiclibs TriangleMesh question: how do I make the edges invisible

Hey All,

Quick question. I've got a triangleMesh built in Toxiclibs. I'm using P3D as the render mode. No matter what I try I can't get the edges of the mesh to disappear. I've tried calling noStroke() and setting the stroke color to be the same as the face color.

I've got some basic lighting in place:

shininess(1);

ambientLight(255, 255, 255);

directionalLight(255, 255, 255, 0, 1, 0);

Below is an image of what it looks like with the following code:

Problem with applet: white screen even after signing all the .jar files

I've got a large processing project that works in the IDE and as an exported application and I'm trying to create an applet version as well.

I'm on a mac running os x 10.6.7 and I believe my JRE and JDK are up to date.

I'm using a few libs including toxilibs, peasycam, controlp5 and openGL.

I've signed all the .jar files as instructed in the wiki http://wiki.processing.org/w/Sign_an_Applet

ControlP5: How do I get the full height of a group so I can dynamically update the position of other groups when I add elements to a group?

Hey All,

In ControlP5 how do I get the full height of a group, including all the elements in it?

I've tried the .getHeight() method for the group but that seems to only return the height of the groups tabs, not the height of the group. The getBackgroundHeight() method only returns the height of the background, which has to be manually set.

Really I'm looking to be able to dynamical space my groups, so if I add a button to a group and it gets bigger all the groups below it slide down.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Problem with ControlP5 and PeasyCam example

Hey All,

So I've basically copied the code from the ControlP5 working with peasy example and inserted it into my sketch, and it works, mostly.

However, while I'm moving the camera round with the mouse, I see a copy of the ControlP5 menu that is rotating round. And as soon as the rotation stops it disappears.

Here is a screen shot of what it looks like while the scene is moving:

See that blurry blue rect in the back parts? That should not be there.

Hi --

I'm working with Toxiclibs quite a bit right now and while going the the source code on BitBucket I found some classes had methods that my (fresh) copy of Toxiclbs dont have that I want. I read on the Toxiclibs site that I can clone the source repository from BittBucket to get the most cutting edge version, but I have no idea how to do it. I searched around on google and the bitbucket site but could not fined a tutorial on how to do it, could some one point me in the right direction please.

On the line " int lastCmp = this.r.height.compareTo(inr.r.height);", line 46 above, I get the error:
Cannot invoke compareTo(Float) on the primitive type float

I've cribbed this code from the Java Tutorial, and according to the Toxilibs Java doc for the Rect class, the height field is a float.

I've tried a few things but can't seem to get pas this error.

Like I said this is my first time implementing and using Comparable and compareTo so I'm probably making a simple mistake. And I know there is a simpler way to directly compare the width and height, however, I really want to learn how to use comapreTo properly.

Can anyone point out what I'm doing wrong?

Exporting DXF for Illustrator CS5 -- All I get is text

Hey All,

I'm looking to export some simple 2d shapes to a .dxf for later use.

As a first step I need to pull the into illustrator CS5. However, when I try I get a screen full of text.

I found this thread: http://processing.org/discourse/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1254202279

But it does not really address the problem.

I know that dxfs are for 3d and I'm doing 2d, but pdfs won't work for other reasons.

And I know that Illustrator can read dxfs just fine.

Any thoughts?

I'm trying to create a new line by using the offsetAndGrow method, however, I do not want it to draw the new line.
I'm really surprised that it does in fact draw the line.

Is there a way to have it simply return a Line2D and not draw it?

I've been trying to figure this out for a few hours and have hit a wall.

I'm trying to update drawing position based on some data from a 6DOM accelerometer/gyro combo.

I've got some code that combines the accelerometer and gyro data (using a Kalman filter) into a the best estimated acceleration vector.

I'm then simply trying to add that vector to a velocity vector and then add that to a position vector.

But when I try to add the incoming acceleration vector to the velocity vector I get NaNs across the board.

RXTX version mismatch on a Macbook pro -- nothing seems to solve this problem

Hello All --

I'm running Processing 1.5.1 on a Macbook Pro running 10.6.7

I've got a program that does a lot of serial communication to an arduino and my program freezes often while communicating. When I run the app without the serial comunicaiton it runs fine, so I suspect a problem with the serial communication.

I also get this warning, which seems related:

WARNING: RXTX Version mismatch

Jar version = RXTX-2.2pre1

native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2

I've tried to fix this a few ways:

I updated my version of java.

I searched for and remove all versions of rxtxcomm.jar and other related files as mentioned here and found nothing beyond what I should have.

I downloaded fresh 2.2pre2 bins from here, and I've put rxtxcomm.jar and librxtxSerial.jnilib in /Library/Java/Extensions

This did not solve the problem.

I tried copying rxtxcomm and librxtxserial from the Processing application folder and pasting them in /Library/Java.Extensions

This also did not solve the problem.

I've tried putting the same new binaries in both Processing application folder and the Java folder.

No change.

I tried deleting the same two files from /Java/Extensions and that had no effect, I still get the warning and the problem.

I've searched around for a solution and nothing I find is very helpful.

Can anyone please tell me what I'm missing here?

How can you specify the target API Level

Hello,

I'm trying to get Processing to communicate with the ADK board via accessory mode, which requires API Level 10.

I've declared this in my manifest.xml file, but processing seems to still be building to API Level 7.

Is there a way to specify the target API level?

I recently got my hands on one of the new Google ADK boards. I've done a lot of Processing work, but not a lot of straight Java or Android programing. (Although, I have started to learn Android).

I'm wondering if any one has made any progress in getting a processing sketch, running on Android, to speak to the ADK board via the accessory mode?

In the mean time, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on ways to tackle this problem.

The tip of the problem is an error for the import android.hardware.usb; line.

Problem with Processing 1.5+ in os x

Hi All,

I just tried to install 5.1, and while it unzips fine, when I run it I get the splash screen and then the menus, but I can't open new or old projects or examples.

The only thing that will open is the prefs window but then it only lets me click cancel.

I've tried 1.5 and 1.5.1 and I've restarted several times.

Any one else have this problem?

I'm running processing 1.5.1 on a brand new windows 7 laptop.

I've got a program that is basically sending gcode to an arduino via serial and generating a bunch of movies from a a usb cam. I've begun to get this error:

WARNING: RXTX Version mismatch

native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2

I'm posting herein Integration and Hardware because it seems like a serial problem. If I should post it elsewhere pleases me know.

and frequent crashes and code freezing.

How can I save a frame of video without drawing it on the screen

Hey all --

Quick question:

I'm using the core video library and want to save an image from the camera without drawing the image on the screen.

I can't seem to figure out how to do it without calling image() and then save().

Any help would be great!

Hello --

I'm getting an error that I can't seem to fix.

The error comes from line 99 of the main code:
controlP5.controller("updateLeftSpeed").setValue(R/Ratio);

I use an identical line of code on line 65 with no error at all.

Any thought or help would be appreciated.

Hi!

On this reference page for PVector ( http://processing.org/reference/PVector.html) it says:

" There are additional methods and other ways to use some of these methods in the developers reference."

But that link comes up dead for me ;(

Where can I find out about the addition methods for PVector?
