Info

this is a app that tries to simulate an OS. I am still working on it, and I hope you will enjoy it... I have 7 apps so far, and I am looking for more! The download is a .zip file. :)

(if someone could help me get the pictures here, that would help)

Download

Windows 64 and 32 bit
download here:
Whitablet One prebuild 6

Notes

if you have a app you want me to put in please let me know.
thx!

  • please comment
    :-h

  • wow, nothing gets explained, not even how to start or which keys to use

hint: standard keys are cursor, wasd, space, return and F1

also the program just saved 310 times the same image as a tif, using 360 MB of my HD without asking me or telling me, which is very uncool

    ;-)

  • also I think 7z as a compress format is not as common as zip or rar

did you read Toms comment on dropbox? You could include Java runtime

  • I like the design

but it doesn't say is it a fish game or a paint program

how can I steer the fish?

  • steering the fish (should work) by just pressing the mouse.

  • It might be a great program

But you need to introduce the user to it

  • this is basically a mini windows. when you click on the program in the Apps Menu,(by clicking the logo) it opens that app. in the taskbar at the bottom of the program, you can click to open the app. (this way you can have more then one app running at a time)

  • please keep in mind that this is a preview build and things will change.

  • the red app with the letter P is a screen recording app. (it takes frames which you can make a movie out of. (20fps)

Don't tell me, tell it in the sketch... ;-)

I just want to help you to make it better...

you could have a small splash screen for each mode where it says

    • Paint program

    • or Fish Game or so

There it could also say use mouse or use keys x and y...

    ;-)

  • wow, nothing gets explained, not even how to start or which keys to use

And not even what this application does or why I might want to download and risk running it on my machine...

    :-O

Think I'll give it a miss...

  • it's a preview... ;-)

but people really have to learn to think from the users point of view

  • maybe it would help that when you hover the mouse over a logo, there is a small help text popping up (like in processing or word or your browser)

  • but people really have to learn to think from the users point of view

Indeed. I had looked at this before you posted because I was intrigued to know what it was. But with no description of what I would be downloading I decided not to chance it...

  • haven't seen it.....

    same link?

  • @Chrisir Yes, sorry, should have made it more obvious.

(It should say preview build 6 instead of five) Also, in the next build I use FX2D for better performance :)

  • I do not like bugs! :(
    ... or scroll bars
    ... or pictures
    ... or arrays

    they are not working!

  • You will conquer, my friend....

  • Thanks.

BTW: soon (hopefully) Whitablet will be availablt to Mac users as well :)
