not sure if win7 64 bit is the problem. i am running the same OS 64bit and never had any problems...

Do you use admin mode or any of the compability modes, or does it just run without doing anything? And where do you have it "installed"?

i am always in admin mode, but i don't use any compatibly mode, like "running app WinXP app" or something similar.

its not really installed, i just copied it to a folder in some of my drives where i keep all my processing stuff. but even old versions i copied from my old Vista 32 Bit PC still work fine on the new one.

Hm. Ive tried all sorts of stuff.. Redownloaded processing again, put it in a new folder, starting it in all sorts of compability modes, reinstalled java again today, made sure Windows update has fully run with every update it can find, uninstalled bullguard (and re-installed it now), disabled windows firewall, and so on..

I still can't get it to work though.

I'm having the same problem!  Very frustrating. 

My friend had the same problem. I download the software with my computer and I sent him the folder. There was a problem with extracting files with winrar.

Also make sure you never install anything Java related into a path name which contains spaces (e.g. "....\My Documents\..."). The JDK should be installed somewhere under a path like "C:\jdk1.6.0_24"...

Mine's dead too. Trying the alpha instead

I had the same problem this week after I killed the processing.exe client software inappropriately. Afterwards it would not start. When I ran it at the command prompt, I was able to see a stack dump, though that did not prove useful. I then looked at all files changed today under my profile's AppData directory and deleted files in the following folders:

Local/temp/…../sketch….*.pde

Local/temp/text_universe.java

Roaming/processing/*

Local/temp/text_univers*

I was able to start up the client after that file clean up.
