Show/Hide the keyboard

is there any other way to reveal the keyboard. the wiki says holding down the menu key should reveal the keyboard, but doesn't work on my phone (LG). and doubt a user will know to do this anyway...

any ideas?

You are going to need to use the android classes to do this as if you were in an Android app most likely. Although it isn't too useful for what you need, if you take a look at the example on the wiki which shows how to use the camera with processing ( http://www.akeric.com/blog/?p=1342). You will see that the sketch is used with an additional SurfaceView class which manages the camera etc.

You should check out the Api demos in the Android SDK to find an example app which implements the soft key input. I haven't used it before, but after some quick googling you probably will do something like the Camera example but with the TextView class.

Some suggestions guess you are using an edittext or a button from the original API, not from the apwidgets library (as it not have all the functions of the api).

But there is one that not need a function of a text edit object, so, .... there is a way undoubtedly

Holding down the menu key does not show the keyboard on my HTC Sensation with ICS.

Yes. I'm pretty sure that I've answered this question at least five time before, but here's my solution again:

You'll need to add the following to the top of your code:

import android.view.inputmethod.InputMethodManager;
import android.content.Context;

And you'll need to use the following functions to show / hide the keyboard:

void showVirtualKeyboard() {
InputMethodManager imm = (InputMethodManager) getSystemService(Context.INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE);
imm.toggleSoftInput(InputMethodManager.SHOW_FORCED,0);
}
void hideVirtualKeyboard() {
InputMethodManager imm = (InputMethodManager) getSystemService(Context.INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE);
imm.toggleSoftInput(InputMethodManager.HIDE_IMPLICIT_ONLY, 0);
}

Hi,

if I add:

import android.view.inputmethod.InputMethodManager;
import android.content.Context;

ore something else to my processing code, I get an message like this:

No library found for android.view.inputmethod
No library found for android.content

And the generated apk doesn't effect any keyboard events.

Which switch must I set to find the needed libraries?
