OK, I initially didn't understand what you meant by running sketches, but the animation is explicit!
It is impressive, I wonder how you did that (will look at code later!). I would use an initial flood fill of different colors and would use colors as masks, but perhaps your approach is different.

I think you pretty much got it: flood fill to a mask, run a sketch, mask it, and then merge everything back together.
