pde files and ubuntu 11,10

Hello i am a very new user of ubuntu but i like it and i want to learn,
i have installed processing 1.5.1 recently and i made some liitle programming,
my problem is that my scetchbooks are pde files that do not open directly in processing.
I mean that when i save a processing scetchbook and the go to the save folder of that scetch i see a pde file that it can not open directly in processing, it opens in gedit text editor and then i have to make copy paste the code and then go to processing open new file an d paste this code. It is very annoying and i already have tried open with other applications in the pde file but still does not have processing so i can associate this type of file

what is the problem?
i am using ubuntu 11,10

This not really a processing question, but suggests to me you are new to using linux. Open a folder with your file manager. Use the right mouse button to click on the file. You get a menu with choice of apps to open with, processing won't be one of the options so create a new option with path to processing executable eg

/home/tux/processing-1.5.1/processing

If you want to you can even associate an icon with the pde file, then you'll be back at home like you were on Windows or something, most people don't even now about the right mouse option (which is often useful on windoes).

thank you for your answer but i am having problem even in this simple task
when i right click in a pde file it gives me only a window with recomnded applications, suggesting applications and a button to find online application so how to create a new option with path to processing executable eg??
i am using gnome shell if that helps

Not sure I believe it is only offering online options, you should be able to either search for a path or enter the path directly. I personally dislike gnome and never use it, that poxy nautilus application thinks it is internet explorer (it doesn't know whether it is a web browser, file manager, application manager desktop or anything else) or something and certainly in the past had the habit of taking over the desktop.
