If everything worked out, you should see the camera in your Device Manager(under PrimeSensor : Kinect Camera, Kinect Motor).

I did those steps, in this order. Only first time without the kinect connected, don't know if that can cause a problem.

Do you also mean this uninstall?

Can of course still have lots of reasons...anything else connected to your usb controller ?

mouse, keyboard, usb stick, wireless internet thing, usb hub

did you check what happens when you have only the kinect connect - usb is always a risk, with the kinect even more

The problem is that you apparantly installed CL NUI drivers first, which are a completely different and conflicting option. You will need to remove the NUI drivers before you attempt to install any of the SimpleOpenNi stuff. Otherwise there will be conflicts and the OpenNi stuff will not work.

Uninstall any way you know how CL NUI and the NUI drivers. Completely remove them. Ideally this will result in the "Xbox NUI Motor" no longer being displayed when you connect the device. Then -and only then- follow the installation procedure of SimpleOpenNi. Again, these two different options are not compatible.

i only installed the things from the SimpleOpenNi installation, never the CL NUI drivers.

So you may have to connect the kinect and then manually uninstall all three if they appear, otherwise just the one you see now. And some of these pages point towards a "remove driver software" or "Eliminates software driver for your device" checkbox. I think Nike said it quite well: just do it

trying the first link now from the post above (which is allready outdated cause the firs installer asks for openNI to be installed which comes in a later step but ok, just swicth that order and see then).

Would you recommend stable or unstable?
And there is developer and redist edition, i only can't find a translation for redist so i have no clue what to choose.

I do not recommend following the outdated instruction on that page nor installing that software at all. I never said that. Perhaps I should not have posted these links in the first place, since they seem to add more confusion than solve it. The reason I posted them, is because all these pages mention uninstalling incompatible kinect drivers. So the only relevant section from the first link is the 1. Remove any existing drivers section. The only thing I have been saying all this time is to UNINSTALL the NUI drivers.

My recommendations are still:
1. Uninstall the NUI drivers (actually completely remove all kinect-related drivers to get a clean start).
2. Follow the installation procedure of SimpleOpenNi.

I uninstalled all drivers i could found.
But when i connect the kinect it still comes up with the 'XBOX NUI Motor' in the device manager, i just can't get rid of it.
(Althought it is with a '?' and a '!' on top of that (like in the image)).
