Hi Jesse.
I also have this problem.
However I got it working by placing a libraries-folder in the sketchbook-location, following these instructions, AND adding the jar-file using the Sketch -> Add file... command.

Yeah, I've done some more exploring too, and can successfully present sketches using both toxilibs and ketai so far...

I am partcularly having issues with oscp5 libraries...

I don't know what the sketch is supposed to do, but it seems to be working when I run it on a device. an x and y on the screen is responding to the accelerometer input.

Rikard, can I ask you what Processing version you are on ? Cause it's giving me all types of grief.

FYI, the sketch is intended to send the accelerometer values back to a host processing sketch via osc... hope it's useful.

Can't you access the accelerometer data directly? There is an example sketch in File->Examples. Under sensor.

@algo_maccione: What sort of problems do you have with APWidgets? What OS / Processing version are you on? Have you tried adding the library both in the sketchbook location plus through Add File-command like mentioned above?

My configuration : Ubuntu 10.04 / processsing 0192 / SDK tools 10 / API 7 / platform version 2.1 on a Galaxy Spica.

With APWidgets i have the same problem that with ketai library. I have added the library with Add-File command but nothing happen : I always have the same issue : processing can't access to class in the jar file ... :-/

cannot access apwidgets.PWidgetContainer

but it's working with processing libraries like oscP5 or controlP5 ...

Ok. I am on 0194 too...

And this sketch way of accessing acceleromter was taken from a blog post by ak_erik, way before the most recent example. Not sure which way is better now, but I'm used to this one. But that's not the problem - I was trying to send the accell values back to my desktop sketch, so I can control 3D rotation that way...

I admit to being confused if we are still supposed to type the import statements for libraries, as it doesn't seem to make a difference anymore. I use Sketch > Add File to add the Jar directly to the code folder.

But again, I can make the ketai examples and some modified toxilibs examples work this way now, but not oscp5. Even if I comment out/delete ALL the osc declarations and calls, it will build and install, but then crashes if the Jar's are in the code folder. If I delete them, it will run just the basic accelerometer sketch. This is the console output when it crashes:

Funny thing,
I tested on 194 on OSX, and I manage to get APWidgets working by only using Add File...
I don't have to have to place a libraries-folder in the sketchbook location.

Seriously, I have no idea what you are referring to. Is this some new method that I missed ?

I stayed on 0191 for a while before 0192, and even then had managed to miss using Add File...

Ok. According to these instructions, you have to place the contributed libraries in the "sketchbook location" on your computer. On OSX i think it's in Documents\Processing. Be careful to get the path right ( libraries\<nameoflibrary>\library\<nameoflibrary>.jar )

I got it working on my Windows machine only by placing the libraries in that directory, plus using the Add File-command.

I thought you meant that we had to make a separate libraries folder in the same directory as our android-mode sketch!

The only way i've gotten things to work properly in 0194 was to drop the external .jar files into the sketch. It will create a code folder under the sketch(akin to the data folder) and copy the jar there. That is the only way i've gotten 0194 to work with external libs on Mac OSX. i wonder if there is a classpath issue with the libraries folder or if my setup was somehow corrupted. i may try to reinstall at a later date. For now this workaround will suffice until after school is over.

hi jesse, didnt get my hands on android yet, but just curious, any clue which classes android does not like? wondering, when you remove netP5 how do you send osc messages across the network since netP5 takes care of the tcp/udp communication.

it seems for some the osc communication has worked (with some ip hickups though) but without removing netP5 - for example here Shy oscP5 kissed Android at last, .. or here how to use libraries with android

That being said, this sketch was originally made in 0192 or 0193, and it worked with both Jar's at that point... So I'm not sure if Android changed their rules for the newer API revisions since then, or what...

ah ok, just to clarify, you took the netP5.jar out of the code folder (which you had copied there before) of your sketch.

you still have oscP5 installed inside your contributed libraries folder, right? (<processing sketchbook>/libraries) the oscP5 library comes with 2 packages (included inside the oscP5.jar), one being oscP5.*, the other netP5.*. so i assume the presence of netP5.jar file caused the confusion when compiling for android, which is also the result of the discussion over here and the error message indicate as well (which says: already added ... so the netP5 package has been read before from the oscP5.jar)

Correct. I removed it from the Code folder, after having added it with Sketch > Add File (which is how you have to add libraries for Android Mode).

It still remains in my /sketchbook/libraries folder (though I am on OSX, and the netP5 jar is in it's own folder, not under oscP5/library...)

i made slight changes to my previous post, oscP5.jar includes both packages, oscP5.* and netP5.*, there is no need for an additional netP5.jar file inside your libraries or code folder, so you can actually remove yours. to confirm this still works, restart processing and test with the following code:

so for android you would need to 'add File' oscP5 only and you have access to both oscP5 and netP5.
