We kicked off the first Processing forum on 2 August 2002 with the question, "Who are you and why are you here"? When you read through the first few pages, you get a quick overview of Processing at that time. Many of the first people to reply were very active and transformative in the first years of the community.

When we started the forum for Processing (Beta) on 20 April 2005, we asked the same question. The first people to reply included Robert "I have a cat" Hodgin, Florian "hair on nude people" Jenett, Tom "Artificial Intelligence with Mathematics" Carden, Ricard "art-science" Marxer, Mikkel "IDEO" Koser, and Guillaume "Design By Ratios" LaBelle. These are people behind some of the most interesting libraries and work created with the software.

Hi, my name is Cedric, that was also my nickname I used to have on the old discussion board. I became quite active on the board for the last 2 years since I found out that the best way to learn is to help others and tried to at least give back a bit of what i have learned so far.

I am a Berlin based information/interaction designer and recently founded a new agency based on generative art and design called onformative (www.onformative.com) together with Julia Laub, author of the "Generative Gestaltungs"-book (www.generative-gestaltung.de). Our work focused on generative art and information visualization in all kind of fields and is heavily based on the processing environment. Beside working on different projects we try to spread the word of processing by teaching (http://www.hs-rm.de/) by giving lectures (TypoBerlin2010) or writing articles for the german interaction magazine weave (www.weave.de)

My name is Chris Lonnen, and I hack away at the Processing source code. I found Proce55ing years ago when I was playing with Design By Numbers, and I used it extensively while teaching myself programming. Some of my hobby sketches would later help get me a position in an undergraduate Bio-Math research lab. While it didn't remain my primary language, I still used it to investigate, understand, and explain ideas in epidemiology, population dynamics, genetics, artificial intelligence, and the foundations of computation. I see a lot of potential in Processing, and I am excited to be able to contribute to such an awesome project.

I have been using processing since 2003 for my personal projects, work and teaching. Hello, world!
I am Philippe Lhoste, I was PhiLho in the beta board, and I am Phi.Lho (or, rather, phi.lho as Zoho login process seems to hate uppercase letters) here as PhiLho seems to be already taken (by myself in the past?).
I am a French guy (still making silly English languages mistakes...) with a wife and three kids (so with little free time!) living in France, near Paris.

I am a computer programmer by trade and by passion (ie. I earn my living with it, yet like to code as a hobby!) and I like to draw too. The first side of my personality is more or less shown in my first site, http://Phi.Lho.free.fr (a dot there too...), more or less bilingual and a bit under-maintained because I spend too much time in such forum!

I learned and used various languages, from Basic and assembly with 8bit computers (back to 1979), to Java today (I recently learned Java and OOP (5 years ago) and Processing helped me greatly in improving my knowledge), passing by C (and a bit of C++, I contributed to the Scintilla/SciTE projects) on various systems, Lua, etc., and on the Web side, PHP and JavaScript (and some knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML, SVG and other associated techniques).

I joined the old forum at 2008-05-01, that's probably shortly after I discovered Processing, following a topic in the deviantART forums -- asking why dA allowed Flash applets but not Java applets like Processing ones... I since re-asked the question, suggested to allow only unsigned applets if they are concerned by security issues, but that's another story.
Since then I have been quite active on the Processing forum (and the JavaFX forum, a related but quite different technique), posting 4190 messages, becoming recently a moderator to help facing a wave of spam messages.
I highly appreciated this community, very helpful and patient, and even though I rarely asked questions myself, I learned a lot trying to help people and doing searches for that!

So I hope to be around for quite some time again!

My name is Andreas Freise, I am a lecturer in Physics, doing research and teaching. Numerical simulations have been part of my research for several years and I am used to write small bits of code or larger C programs whenever I need those. I can get excited about computers and technology, especially related to graphics in any way. I found Processing in 2008 when I was once again looking for the right tool to get students excited as well. In 2009 I have used it in several student projects and we've also developed a library for scientific plotting of 2D and 3D data. All of this can be found at www.gwoptics.org. We have just started new summer projects including Processing and I hope to introduce Processing to some core teaching modules in the future.
It's a slow process but so far quite succesful and a lot of fun!

I very much enjoy playing with Processing myself even though I find very little time for fun programming projects between work and family. For one year I have been reading this (the old) forum regularey because the overall quality of the comments is quite high and I very often find something new and interesting.

My name is Gustav Bjordal, guss was my nick on the old forum. I am from Sweden so if you see some grammar errors, don't be alarmed.
I guess that right now the most accurate thing to call me would be a passionate hobbyist programmer, i'm kinda in a gray area between titles :p
I'm a "self taught" programmer (depending on how you define it) and have been programming for 5 years now. I started working with flash and moved onto c++ 2 years ago and found processing 1 year ago (actually like 11 months ago) and i now primarily work with c++ and processing, depending on what i am doing. My main interest when it comes to programming is making games - and by extension interactive design. Right now in processing i am mainly experimenting with different ways to create "art" using points, lines and a lot of randomness (and some math).

So why am i here?
Well... why not?!
I figured seeing and reading what other people are doing in processing could give a lot of inspiration, while being able to get feedback on the thing i'm doing can't be a bad thing, right? And it's always fun to help other people with their projects, and like PhiLho said you can always learn a lot from helping other people. So basically i am here to learn and (maybe) help.

Hello all!

My name is Amnon Owed. I am an aspiring graphic designer currently located in The Hague, The Netherlands. Having no prior programming experience I started playing with Processing mid-2009. Through education & experimentation I'm still continuously trying to further develop myself as a visual artist. This is my focus for the next few years. My biggest enemy is time since I have a full-time job in a completely different field. I'm currently working for several Dutch ministries as a policy advisor given my university background in economics. I hope someday I'll be able to tie together all the differents strings. For now it can be somewhat challenging balancing between these very different worlds.

I found the online Processing community to be incredibly helpful and stimulating, so of course I wanna be part of it. Especially the past few months I've been exploring diverse aspects of P5's capabilities. Often touching, to me, completely new territories like animation and sound design. Very exciting stuff! In the future I hope to learn and create much more...

My name is Adam Schmidt, and I am a semi-intermediate programmer. I don't have a job (because i don't need one yet).

I was introduced to processing with Tom Igoe's Making Things Talk, with that I tampered with one of their projects (a lot). Creating the Sensor Activated SquirrelCam. Now I am not using an arduino, and i am working on more visual programs. This year i am going into 9th grade.

I've worked with processing for the last 3 years i think, i have done lots of work under processing, ie. libraries, demos (demoscene), apps, installations, and so on. These days i spend most of my time between java and c++ coding my own tools but i still am a regular @ processing forum and using it for fast prototyping and helping.

Hello,

I'm Ray Cha.
I downloaded early versions of processing over the years, but never really built anything.
I recently attended a workshop by Dan Shiffman at ITP ( http://itp.nyu.edu/camp ). So, I am now inspired to actually make something.
I think I was literally using the Processing forums during the switch over to my own amusement and slight confusion.

Recent interest include design mobile applications, biological signals, and physical computing, and processing.

I discovered processing about a year ago - and at that point I realized I can use my programming knowledge for arts and not just for making a living.

Hey there,

My name is Geoffroy Tremblay. I started using processing last September and have been going trough few of the basic learning books.

I've approach a local school here in Canada to tutor kids, teaching them Processing. You can follow my experiment on my site ponnuki.net.

I've been programing on and off since the Vic 20 and comodor64, but after the Vic 20 I never really enjoyed it. Processing brought back that interest in me, merging my latest interest in developing my creative side, with my life long skill.

My main interest is moving toward developing interactive dance events, using my music and processing visualization. I am still in the early stage of bigger project, but slowly learning about physical computing with arduino, android, Nintendo DS etc.

I feel we are going trough an art revolution - and that will lead the way in a lifestyle revolution. Giving access to programing and electronic is slowly creating a explosion of creativity that will influence the evolution of the mind itself. (ho yeah I am also studying yoga and meditation for the last 15 years ~ and live in a yoga retreat, hence my tendency to reflect on the effect on the mind and evolution that processind has ;)

I'm Ira Greenberg, and it's very nice to see a crisp new face on an old familiar friend!
I studied painting in school back in the 80's/early 90's and slowly transitioned to code. My main interest as a painter–analysis and re-synthesis of perceptual data–has remained pretty much intact, though code has allowed me to readdress this interest in a much more multidimensional fashion. Thus, I don't see a separation between traditional artist materials and code, which has gotten me in some hot water over the years–especially with university art departments. (I suspect I am not alone on this forum in this regard.)

One of the challenges of our new medium is how best to educate and prepare new/young code artists. Toward this challenge, Processing has perhaps gone further than any previous approach. I spent the last 5 years writing 2 books based on Processing looking at this problem–and I'm not quite done yet. Over this period, I got pretty intimate with Processing and its community, and it's been a wonderful, enriching experience. I'd go so far as to say that the community aspect of Processing is as significant as the software. In the last few years I've been working with university Computer Science departments, to integrate Processing into the CS1 curriuculum. This has a been a very unexpected and exciting (albeit humbling) development, but it really seems to be working! A group of us were even able to get National Science Foundation support to expand this effort.

I continue to use Processing for my own creative work–more and more as a prototyping and conceptualizing medium. Having worked with many programming languages and environments over the years, I think Processing is without compare as a prototyping environment and language. I look forward to learning about and meeting more of you and do hope we can all convene in person in the future at a much overdue Processing conference.

My name is Peter Lager and was known as Quark on the old board.

I first discovered Processing in December 2008 and watching the creativity of the people using it took me back to my early days of home computing when I used to create programs just for the fun of it.

I was never very good at art/graphics at school my strength being in the sciences and mathematics so my contribution to Processing is more on the programming side by creating libraries for others to use.

I was a programmer and i'm now working in QA testing.

I was learned progamming with motorola 68000 language and learned many other languages since (some basics, Pascal, C, Java and Processing).

I'm really enjoy about Processing because it's a powerfull and easy to use language : the best way to learn programming and after to transform ideas in real stuff. You can found some of my sketches here : www.yelele.eu

My brother and I are working on a multiplayers arcade game coded in processing, with minim and ProControll libraries : you can read more about this on this forum, HERE.

Hello. My name is Paul Hertz. I'm an artist who works with intermedia, both digital and analog. I've been employed for many years as a programmer and also as a university professor, teaching new media art. Now I'm a full time artist. I've also written about new media and curated exhibitions. "Imaging by Numbers: A Historical View of the Computer Print," a show I curated with Debora Wood, at the Block Museum. included work by Casey.

I've worked with Processing off and on, and am lately using it as the primary tool for my algorithmic work. I have grown increasingly convinced of the need for FLOSSy, DIY philosophy/economics, certainly in the arts, but also in the world at large: one more reason for using Processing.

I'm now off to my last year studying Information & Interaction Design in Arnhem (Netherlands). My interests lie within the fields of information visualization, computational design, -art, typography, photography and architecture and their relation to natural sciences.

Hi I'm Carlos and I made a few posts in the old forum under the name Phattee. I majored in graphic design as an undergraduate and I am currently finishing up my MFA in animation at UCLA. I worked in the film industry for a couple of years, and although I loved the work, I hated the business, so now I'm working as a generalist doing design and 3D modeling/animation at the Neuroimaging Dept. at UCLA.

My boss introduced me to Processing about two years ago. At the time I didn't even know what "object oriented programming" meant, so most of the past two years have been spent going over Ben & Casey's book, Ira Greenberg's book, and taking an intro Java class. I just recently started coding a series of sketches that I hope will eventually become my thesis project and which will help me get some serious practice, practice, practice with Processing.

I am Rebecca Mushtare. I'm trained as a designer/visual artist. I currently am a full time faculty member at Marymount Manhattan College (specializing in digital media) in NYC. I am new to Processing, but have worked extensively in MAX, Isadora and Flash. I like to work in tactile realms (sewing & soldering/wiring) as well as virtual ones (code/web) -- and my creative work often reflects this duality. For me, Processing is very refreshing (and quick) to work in! -- and thank you (Casey & Ben) for writing Processing: A Programming Handbook for Visual Designers & Artists -- I often did things in code because I knew they worked, but wasn't always sure why, thanks for all of the clarifications!

I think it's a perfect tool for that purpose because the "Idea" to "support code" ratio is very good in processing

I'm Adam Smith from Arlington, Virginia, USA. (Not the famous economist!) I was Smitty on the old board.

In my former life I was a systems engineer, and I did a lot of visualization work in graduate school when I was working on robotics and airflows. These days, I'm embarking on a second career as a high school physics teacher, and I'm using Processing as an easy but powerful way to prototype web apps for educational purposes.

EDIT: Also, I'm responsible for the napplet library (and all the bugs therein.)

I love color. I'm obsessed with sharing my love, passion and knowledge of color relationships.

My interest in Processing is to create content that inspires people about color.

Some of the content plays on four walls in an immersive and interactive room called A Color Box. Sometimes I host other people's content as long as it evangelizes color relationships.

Other content will exist on my color websites: Color is Relative and Same Same or Different (You can see I mix it up with flash and HTML).

I really have little idea how to code anything but have found many friends here who are willing to take my hacks and make them work. I am grateful to you all so far for all the help I've received.

I live in Maui, get in the ocean almost every day and make fine art. I want to learn a ton more about MATH and ART and NATURE and VIBRATION to create... hoping to know how processing can help get me there.

My name's Jack Kern and I was WebDext on the previous forum.

My interests are wide and varied; from robotics, to model airplanes, 3d modeling, drawing, automation and video game programming. Initially I was a self-taught programmer dissecting snake.bas and gorilla.bas examples in basic, but moved into DarkBasic, Blitz Basic and finally Java in high school. I definitely have ~~functional~~ procedural (Thanks phi.lho!) programming language roots with a hint of O.O.

I got my first real taste for C & C++ at DigiPen where I learned orders of magnitude more about programming, physics and higher level maths. For the last three years or so after graduation, I worked at Monolith Productions as a tools programmer, where I added features to their world editor as well as writing other new tools in C++ with MFC and C#.

Over the last five years I've been using Processing in my spare time for prototyping ideas, writing scripts, some simple game development, making Christmas light shows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfkKsnqzx-4) and working on a UI library that allows for a zoomable, rotatable and scrollable desktop and windows (http://github.com/ElectricJack/caffeine).

Currently I've been doing contract work from home including making some proprietary tools and libraries for processing, and I hope to grow this into a real business, but we'll see!

I look forward to experiencing programming in the future involving more and more of our r-mode thinking. I want to play a part in developing new languages that help us piece together architectures at a pattern level before digging into a program's details that make it different. I see everything through the eyes of offsets from generalizations now, and I believe new development environments are the next step to making software development more efficient, collaborative, easily parallelized and reliable.

I'm also interested in working with other programmers here on the forum, and hope to post here somewhat more regularly!

Heres to dodging excessive garbage collection and null pointer exceptions!

I definitely have functional programming language roots with a hint of O.O.

For the record, you probably mean "procedural programming" (I have the same roots!). Functional programming is a quite different beast.

Jeff G. here from Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. I've been using Processing for over a year now on various projects focused around data graphs. I know several languages, but master of none. Before Processing, I didn't have Java or OpenGL experience, so it was a great way for me to start easy and work my way into more advanced stuff. I try to answer questions when I can to give back to the community that has helped me so much.

Hi I'm Martin Prout from Pembrokeshire. Hobby programmer, interests in context free art, lsystems and whatever takes me. My interest in processing started about 18 months ago when I joined a project to produce a book on processing (by the most number of authors led by Darrel Ince of the Open University). Since then I've strayed a bit into exploring context free art, and lsystems which I document together with other processing stuff on my main blog. I have also been exploring ruby-processing and the ruby processing context-free DSL in particular which I document on another blog. I am an advocate and user of open source software, and I have recently upgraded to a 64 bit linux box (which I have "polluted" with a proprietary NVIDIA 256.44 graphics driver and opengl works a treat). On the old board I was martin_p, but this is an identity I use elsewhere, and I am slowly consolidating.

Hello folks. I'm Dave aka hndrsn on the old forum - an artist/producer of sound/tinkerer from Ireland. I've just finished a degree in Fine Art Media at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, my interests lying predominantly with sonic design and more recently with generative systems (my degree project, using processing/arduino/puredata can be viewed here: http://hendersonsix.com/#212455/Radius-Music ) I started using Processing last September, and probably wouldn't have kept it up if the people on the forum weren't so helpful! Before that, my first programming experience was a tiny bit of python using NodeBox on mac.

My name's Chris, I'm a(n aspiring) graphic designer/artist recently graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, I've got an obsession with almost all things 80's and neon, and I've been tinkering on and off with Processing for about a year now. Hello all,

My name is Andrés Colubri, and I'm a programmer/researcher with diverse interests in the sciences and arts. While figuring out how to put these different interests together, I'm currently doing research in bioinformatics and data visualization.

I started my involvement in Processing development with a couple of libraries for video and opengl. Right now I'm working in the new 3D renderer for the Android version of Processing.

Hi there! I'm Thomas. I'm an engineer in Ohio, and have been working lately in distributed systems, but I have experience in Design. Processing has helped me many times in ad-hoc data analysis, and prototyping software.

I posted a very tiny amount in the last forum about using Processing on Amazon EC2. I know there hasn't been a week in several years that I haven't had Processing up and running, but often it is every day.

I also have experience in several other languages, and my favorite is Python (and Jython!). I highly recommend Processing to everyone I can no matter their experience. It is a real joy to use.

Hey. I’m Johan Wastring, graphic designer from Limhamn, Sweden.

I found an article in Eye magazine (typography mag) on Processing late 2007. I was looking for a christmas learning project in programming and was bitten by the article on Processing. I also found Ben Frys papers and thesis at that time and it all fascinated me. Suddenly (well six months later at least) I found myself able to program a bit. An old dream of mine. The programming seems like a new level of creativeness since I can write code the way I used to twist curves in Illustrator. Quite amazing.

So alot of processing work right now. From dashboards, personal apps to 3d graphs with thousands of nodes. I haven't really closed all gaps yet, but graphs and graph theory is something that indicates the final truth for the moment. I got a son three months ago and graphs are enormously fascinating so I look forward to every day at the moment :-)

My name is Alexis Chazard, from France. I'm involved in graphic design and fine art fields, interested in interactive installations. I'm teaching in ESAD-GV, Valence and occasionnally in Paris 8 University. It early became clear to me that programming was tied to narrative and scenarii. I never wanted to become a "master of code" although I deeply care to know more about it. It led me to a better knowledge of various languages, having been influenced by Peter Norvig words in its "Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years" article. Hello.
I just got around to introducing myself, I should have done it earlier...

My name is William, aka calsign (don't ask, it's a long story) and I live in upstate New York near Albany. I am twelve and going in to seventh grade. (I try my best to sound like an adult.)

I have been programming (if you can call some of my previous "languages" that) for five years now and I have been with Processing for roughly one and a half. As for this forum, I have been a member since early December but have been most active since February.

In addition to programming, I am interested in Science, Art, Music and several sports including soccer.

I thought as I'm posting more it would be an idea to introduce myself. My name's David Wilson, I'm 34 and I go by Calx Design. I've been working on 3D design projects since I was 17 when I was dabbling in POV-Ray and VRML inspired by the work of William Latham, My most recent work has been in the form of sci-fi book covers for Penguin Books for the likes of WIlliam Gibson and Neal Stephenson.

While looking for new and interesting ways to extend creative software I have worked with MaxScript and done some illustrator scripting too, I ended up here about 8 months ago, and Processing seems to be what I've been looking for. I'm currently working on a simple game for Android in order to further my knowledge of the framework and designing book covers to pay the bills as I go.

I came to programming by accident, started with ActionScript and worked through Keith Peters' Making Things Move. Then there was a Processing tutorial in Computer Arts magazine and I've pretty much jumped ship.

Hello there I'm Kobby, 23, Minneapolis based interactive developer and recent graduate from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where i studied what was called "Web and Multimedia Environments". I was introduced to interactive media in general at MCAD when i took a foundation media class and realized that figuring out code and working in that realm was a lot easier for me than techniques in illustration, painting or printmaking. I literally wrote my first like of code in as3 in january of 2010, and ever since then I've been pushed into a lot of directions from front end web development, to game development with Unity to working with Processing, Open Frameworks and Cinder(a little bit), I also sometimes when necessary work with Max/MSP/Jitter and recently started learning iOS development.

Processing was sort of like a gateway drug(programming wise) to other things. After learning processing, a lot of other things made sense, it was much more easy to jump into Open Frameworks and Cinder, advanced Javascript and Max/MSP.

I spend most of my 9-5 time working on front end web development but spend my non 9-5 time making things with lights and cameras and arduinos and sound and things of that nature.

Hi folks.

My name is Justin Lincoln. I teach digital/new media art at Whitman College, a small liberal arts college in South-East Washington state. I've been using and exploring Processing for a couple of years now. My background is in Fine Art. I have degrees in Sculpture and English Literature.I'm very interested in getting my students to think about the programmed world around them and getting them involved in open(-source) culture.

Processing has been a great introduction to programming for me. It's led me to a point in my teaching where I want to experiment and learn alongside my students instead of passing received knowledge to them. OpenProcessing has been a great help with that and I hope to get more involved with the folks at this forum as well.

Hey, my name is Jane Friedhoff. I'm also currently an MFA student at Parsons in the D+T program. I've been coding for fun since I was a kid, but started taking it more seriously in the last 2-3 years. My interests largely lie in game design, physical creativity, installation design, and creative coding as a whole. Basically, I like to make things that feel magical.

Processing was the tool that really turned me into a capital-c Coder, I think, so I'm psyched to teach it to my students at Bootcamp!

I just moved back from New Orleans, where I was the Communications Director for the City Council President. Through that job, and the one before it where I wound up in the IT department, I discovered that I really enjoying working with computers. Plus, I have always loved creating art, crafts, and anything creative -- so this seems like the perfect marriage of creativity with technology. I also have some background in film, though I haven't done as much with that as I would like. I am very excited to start this new journey and soak up as much information as humanly possible.

Like other recent posters I'm an incoming MFADT student at Parsons and have just survived the first day of Bootcamp...well, with a little homework left to go, anyway. I studied the Liberal Arts for my undergraduate degree, and while I have a little experience with video game design (my intended focus) and XHTML/CSS, I expect the vast majority of this material to be completely new to me. I studied Graphic Design during my undergraduate years and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, I was not completely fulfilled. I felt like Graphic Design was a great foundation for my education, but I wanted to branch out and try new things, to learn and to play. For this reason I decided to attend the DT program, because I believe that during my time in the program I will learn how to merge technology with my knowledge in design and with knowledge of both I can create new and exciting things. My name is Dalal Dakhil; I’m 28 years old. I was born in San Diego and shortly after moved to Saudi Arabia where I lived for 20 years. I later on married and moved to the states. I recently Graduated as a Graphic Designr from New York Instate of Technology. I am a mother of a 2 year old boy and a beautiful baby girl, As a mom and a full time student, I have struggled the past 2 years with my studies, but thankfully I never fell behind in my work. I didn't take a break after having my first baby and I don't plan to take one after my second as I am very close to meeting my goals. It is so hard living abroad and leaving my family behind but I came here in order to get a degree that will hopefully help me in the future. I'm lucky enough to have a loving husband who helps me whenever he has time to spare.

After graduating from MFA, my goal is to work for a young and entrepreneurial firm where my designs can have a tangible impact on the firm’s relationship with its target customers. I believe that people today identify with the brands they choose to associate themselves with more than anytime in the past. Whether it is their clothes, the gadgets they carry, the service providers they use, or even the grocery store they shop from, all of these choices today are important contributors to the modern individual’s personality. My goal is to pick up the necessary skills to be able to translate my interpretation of what people want into unique designs that will resonate with them. I believe that Parsons The New School for Design can give me that edge, and I am looking forward to it.

Hello everyone,

I am also beginning an MFA at Parsons' Design and Technology department and wanted to introduce myself to the community. My background is in physics, but I have a little bit of experience playing around with Arduino. After undergrad I started working at a science museum which exposed me to a lot of amazing, creative work in the art/science/technology realm. After learning what was out there in terms of these new creative disciplines I didnt know existed, my interests switched form studying to be a high school teacher to physical computing and interactive environments.

I'm really looking forward to coding in different languages and I'm sure I'll be drawing on the help of you fine people from this forum. Pleased to meet you all.

My name is Anthony. I like to make things.

I've always been interested in creation, whatever the medium. I graduated from Sonoma State University in 2011 with a degree in communications studies. This was the study of media, production thereof, and the sociological effects of mass media. I found it infinitely fascinating. This is part of what led me to Parsons: The New School for Design. The program (design and technology) delicately balances science and art while managing to have a focus on the social aspects of our work as well.

I am a new student at Parsons beginning my graduate studies in Design and Technology. Hey I'm Morgan. I am a curious, creative creature. I am Australian but grew up in Asia (Malaysia, Singapore and Japan). I've lived in Sydney Australia for the past ten years where I have been a "couch potato". I started a degree in Arts Languages (Art History, Photography, French, Mandarin, Creative Writing/Literature etc) but didn't find it creatively stimulating enough so I transfered to a film and digital art degree. Last year I came for an exchange at Parsons and fell in love with the place. So now I'm back to expand my skill set in web and coding in addition to film and design.

My name is Alexander Simes. I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago last year and was introduced to Processing my freshman year there. I intended to be a gallery artist going into the school but became more interested in Processing / web design and currently make websites. I spent the last five years teaching myself programming with Processing (also with the help of the forum) and now am going to start school at UIC in their CS department this month. Programming in Processing has become one of my passions among chess, drawing, and gymnastics.

Hello All,

I'm Paul from England. I've been playing with Processing on and off for the last few years purely for my own entertainment. I've been programming computers as a hobby since I got my first ZX81 (was it really about 30 years ago?!).

I progressed from Basic to Pascal to C and have dabbled with Java and C++ (and lots of others!). I've completed about half a dozen 2D and 3D freeware games, a full-blown business application (still running in a medium sized business after 10 years) and a few Freeware utilities. I've also contributed to a few open source projects and provided simple musical loops, graphics and 3d meshes for a few games.

I'm hoping to use Processing to learn more about producing generative/genetic/organic art but I'm also working on a simple game.

I have never seen this introductions before, nor here, nor in the old forum. Though i'm around since there ( I think i was v.k. there too). So let's introduce me. Hi, I'm Vicente from Brasil (we do write with an 's'). I bumped into Processing in my work. I'm a film/adds/tv editor/director also involved with post production. Processing is my first contact with code (well not counting expressions in After Effects). And i just enjoy it a lot. I think this software, this idea and this community are amazing. I most stay around for learning. And I learned a lot, if not all, in those forums. This days I've been very involved in a project using Processing so I've been around more often asking and reading. I found this community as one of the more friendly, helpful, and sympathetic of the ones i know. So I try to give back as much as i can. Nice to meet you.

I'm James Franssen, mostly a traditional artist (Charcoal Artwork) who specializes in portraits (I drew the horse in my icon). I have some professional history with providing artwork and technical editing of computer games and animation. I am mostly interested in creating interesting interactive visual effects through the use of Kinect and a projector for stage productions.

I am fiercely determined to learn every aspect of Processing then other programming languages beyond that. This is a generous forum and I hope to be able to give back when I can.
