Converting sound to graphics ?

Hello guys,

I am doing final project in graphic design about location's sound converting to printed artwork. I am really new in Processing and JAVA, so maybe can you help me out and share with some information/similar projects/info/links/applications or whatever that could help te to achieve this goal? Or maybe you were doing something similar?

Artwork should look like abstract infographics generated by sound files.

Please help and thank you for collaboration!

I'd start by working out how get the location data for your sounds.

Then make sure you can access that data somehow in Processing (probably by printing it out with println()).

You should probably get that working before you even start to consider basing a visual off of it.

Anybody has tried to use nodebox for creating visuals from data? Just curious

I did this short code in order to generate some sculptural shapes:

The purpose was to generate nice prints (via sunflow)... I´ve to say code there is really rough, there are better methods if you want to get music data into the skecth... just search in openprocessing and you will find a lot of stuff regarding this topic...
You can check also these ones, but they are part of an unfinished project, and I have to improve/rethink the output slightly:

The purpose here is to generate fingerprint-kind visualizations, in order to compare different styles or songs.
