A brief explanation of my project: I'm trying to dynamically create a 3d graphic in processing and bring it in to After Effects where I can animate and render it. To do this, I export a dxf file from processing. I then open it in Blender and export it as a .3ds file. I import that file into photoshop and save a .psd file which can be imported into After Effects. The entire process (although convoluted) works surprisingly well, although Im losing color information.
I'm fairly certain I lose color information at between processing and blender. Does anybody know how I can keep the colors? They are very essential to this project. Thank you.
I think you may need to modify the dxf exporter to suit your needs, I wrote a custom export library for povray based on the dxf export library, that retains color information (however it doesn't always get it right, especially with different colored faces the colored faces in the top sketch of my blog entry should be all red). One tip if you do get round to it, turn off any lighting during export. Feel free to plunder my code for ideas if it makes any sense to you.
