Sonia won't sing for me

I'm having a bit of trouble getting Sonia to run properly each time I try. Sometimes it works for a few seconds then hangs, sometimes I get a blank white screen, but always with a egg-timer mouse pointer.

I'm trying to use the LiveInput.getSpectrum(); data (and am using the example on this site) - I've reinstalled Java and the JSyn plugin but nothing's happening.

JSyn using native library JSynV142
PortAudio on WMME - Latency = 18432 frames, 417 msec
Input Device #0: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input has 2 channels
Input Device #2: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output has 2 channels
PortAudio on WMME - Latency = 18432 frames, 417 msec

Anybody any idea what I can do? Thanks a lot.

Hey Neave, your problem is probably related to a larger Processing bug, described here:

(there are also other threads on this - search for 'code folder')

We found that older versions of Norton Anti-Virus and Non-US XP machines are prone to this bug.

To varify this is your problem, try placing other class files (not sonia) in the code folder, and see if the applet also hangs.

everybody could solve this issue on Non-US Windows XP with Norton?

i still have get same problems(sometimes i can run sketch but it stop), even though i uninstalled Norton...

i tried with empty code folder without sonia, but it has problem.

does anybody know which applications may bring this strange problem?
