How would you create a smooth mesh from voxels on a series of lines?

I looked at the following sketch using toxiclibs but it uses a mesh as an input:

I am just starting to learn processing (very excited) but haven't found many codes using "interface elements" such as sliders, buttons..etc... Would there be a tutorial (or simple existing scripts) showing how to implement these elements and link them to the parameters of the script?
